A Success with Plamoya: Makkachin and More

Just to give you a back story. I have a friend who's an avid fan of Yuri!!! On ice. Because I happen to figure skate, he was VERY persistent in seeing me cosplay as someone from the show. I kept resisting. We ended up having a bet where if I lost, I had to cosplay Yuri On Ice. It was a very simple bet: he had to get at least 100 people to vote on a poll “yes” that they wanted to see me cosplay from that series. Miraculously, I lost...he got over 100 votes! To honor his victory, I chose to crossplay as Yuri Katsuki.

The Blind Box Adventure with Puella Magi Madoka Magica Mascot

I was browsing through my comic book store when I spotted these. I became intrigued and decided to buy 3 of the blind boxes. This is where the “let’s pray that I don’t get duplicates” starts happening. I hoped to get Homura and what luck! Not only did I get her, but the other characters as well on the first try. Yay! No duplicates.

This was the first photo shoot gathering that I have ever participated in. My friend, who was cosplaying as Kyoko, discovered this shoot on a cosplay forum and we included it as part of our Friday itinerary. This was completely fan organized: run by fans, for fans.

At last year's Otakon, I got autographs from the voice actors for Madoka, Sayaka and Kyoko. All I was missing were Mami and Homura. At the time, I thought to myself, I probably would not be able to get the other voice actors' signature in the future. Especially since companies tend to stop promoting a series after a certain time. I would be pretty lucky to get Homura and Mami's signature. Lo' and behold! Otakon announced a name that looked familiar to me: Cristina Vee. I had to double check the name and realized it was the voice actress for Homura Akemi!

At Otakon, I was Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica on Friday, while Saturday I was Ayano Keiko a.k.a. Silica from Sword Art Online. I have to say it was quite the experience: getting ready the morning of and having photos taken…quite often, which was unexpected!

Aniplex to Host Puella Magi Madoka Magica Special Meet and Greet Event at Anime Jungle in Los Angeles

SANTA MONICA, CA (January 26, 2012)– Celebrating the Release of Puella Magi Madoka Magica Vol. 1 in North America, Aniplex of America is having a special Meet and Greet Event with the English Voice Cast of the series. Fans will get to share the excitement of Madoka Magica with the English Cast just days after the release of the First Volume (February 14th).
