Stuart Levy and the Tokyopop Tour

With the nationwide search for "America's Greatest Otaku" well on its way, I recently spoke with Stuart Levy, who is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer of Tokyopop, about the event and the awesome looking tour bus.

Linda: You have come a long way Stu. How do you feel about having something the company can travel in nationally, while showing off their Tokyopop spirit?

Stu: This summer’s TOKYOPOP Tour is honestly the most exciting thing we’ve done in awhile. No other company has done anything like it, especially in the anime/manga space. We’re really doing it for otaku culture overall, not just TOKYOPOP. For instance, America’s Greatest Otaku is a neutral show that doesn’t even promote anything from TOKYOPOP – it’s entirely devoted to otaku culture in America. But the thing I’m most excited about is meeting fans nationwide – even fans who never attend conventions but are able to come out and greet us at the bus!

Linda: Even though it is used for the Tokyopop nation wide tour for "America's Greatest Otaku," in regards to the company, what does the bus symbolize? What makes it special?

Stu: I think the bus symbolizes anime and manga becoming a true part of American pop culture – we’ve arrived and everyone has to take us seriously!
