Experiencing Anime Boston 2011

Through out the convention season, there were activity specific rooms and areas that were open everyday with a daily schedule: registration; karaoke; artist alley; information desk; manga library; art show; dealers room; video gaming, and live gaming. There were certain things that were generally the same: crowds; cosplayers; panels, for the general public, 18+ or 21+; concerts; video screening, and other random non-anime activities, such as the informal dance/rave. Even though the general type of activities were available, there was a variety of it. However, there were specific events that were unique in its nature that happened on certain days. So, let me tell you about my adventures and impressions of Anime Boston.

Preparing for Anime Boston 2011

Before I begin to tell you about my preparation for the trip, I want to tell you why I decided to go. My first Anime Boston was back in 2007 with a group of college friends. I did not know anything about conventions and what goes on during this time. I did not know about panels, artist alley or anything that was involved in it. The only room that I encountered, which I did not even know the name at the time, was the Dealers Room.

What's Up with the TOKYOPOP titles?

People on the TOYKOPOP page on Facebook has been asking and wondering about the series that are under the company's belt. What's going to happen to them? Will it still be available in the US? Well, they have a response, but it seems that we all, including TOKYOPOP, has to wait and see what the "original Japanese creators" wants to do with the licenses.

Personal Review: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

Review by Jong Chung

In an effort to catch up to recent volumes, here is another review featuring the Haruhi Suzumiya series! The fourth installment, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya features the stoic Nagato at the center of its events. The universe is turned on its heels when the world Kyon knew it as is no longer. As if the past had been changed, Kyon finds the SOS brigade nonexistent, and even Haruhi to be a stranger to him in this new world. Even more disturbing to Kyon (ironically) is that there are no Aliens, Time Travelers or Espers around! Despite having met up with his past acquaintances of the SOS Brigade, none seem to remember nor recognize him.

Summer Wars – Makes You Love Your Family

Article by Chet Royer

Being an anime and manga fan for over a decade, I have seen many different kinds of stories being told over and over again. So much to the point that originality is hard to come by. However, the thing I appreciate about anime and manga, in present time, is that authors add or re-imagine concepts that have been done to make it interesting and refreshing once again. This is what Summer Wars has accomplished. This is Chet a.k.a. Ninja101 and here is my review on the movie.
