New York, July 7th 2009 - Kinokuniya Bookstore, Japan’s leading bookseller and US ‘Otaku culture central’, is coming back to Otakon 2009 (Baltimore Convention Center, July 17-19) as one of the premium dealers. After successful previous collaborations with such brands as Baby the Stars Shine Bright and MaruiOne, Kinokuniya now teams up with four popular Gothic Lolita labels Angelic Pretty”, ”Metamorphose”, ” Victorian Maiden” and “ Visible”. Select dresses and accessories will be sold at its booth in the Otakon Dealers Room.
Gothic Lolita is a fashion subculture in Japan that is primarily influenced by Victorian children's clothing as well as costumes from the Rococo period. Lolita has made this into a unique fashion by adding gothic and original design elements to the look. The popularity of Gothic Lolita fashion in the US has been increasing in recent years and the interest has expanded to cross over into the realm of Anime/Manga fans as well as certain fashion industry circles.
