Thursday at Otakon 2013

Badge designs that you could choose from

During a convention that is on a weekend, Thursday is the best day to GO to a convention. Why? Because one gets to relax before the chaos begins on Friday. It is the perfect time to unpack, walk around the neighborhood and pick up one’s badge.

My original intention was to go to the National Aquarium to check out the shark tank, but realizing that we arrived at about 1pm and only with a few hours until closing, I did not think it was enough to explore the aquarium. So, my friends and I walked around to check out the two malls nearby and later in the day we went to get our badges.

When we arrived at the entrance, there was still quite a bit of people getting their badges. Last year, I just walked right into the entrance to pick it up. This year, we had to go around the building and follow a group of people outside to a line that led inside to pick up our badges. Now it did not take hours to get a badge; probably a good 15 minutes. So the crowd and line control made everything go pretty smooth.

Even hours after we picked up our badges, outside the convention center remained lively. Some were still picking up their badges, while others stayed up late roaming around the convention building. Then there were others who explored the nightlife of the city. Then there’s me: I went back to the hotel, ate dinner and slept to be prepared for the adventures of the weekend.
